We mix small-town service with big-store selection. When you visit our Elk River campus, you’ll find trusted brands, durable materials, and a team that cares about helping you find the right fit for your home.
We’re proud to feature American-made and Amish-crafted furniture, built from solid woods like oak, maple, cherry, and walnut. Quality always comes first, and thanks to our close vendor partnerships, we hardly ever have to say no. If you can dream it, we can have it built for you.
Furniture and Things began in 1979 as a small family produce market in Anoka called Plants and Things. The market offered fresh vegetables, outdoor décor, and antiques, quickly becoming a local favorite known for its quality products and welcoming atmosphere. What started as a seasonal stop for produce gradually grew into something more, as customers returned not only for what they could buy, but for the experience itself.
As the business grew, the same family spirit and focus on craftsmanship led to a natural expansion. In 1981, the company moved indoors and introduced fine, solid-wood furniture built to last for generations. The goal was simple: offer well-made furniture people could trust, while keeping the friendly, personal service that made the original market so memorable.
Today, you’ll find our flagship campus in Elk River, where Furniture and Things and Plants and Things sit side by side, welcoming visitors from across Minnesota. We’ve come a long way from that first produce stand, but our purpose hasn’t changed; we’re still here to help people find furniture they love coming home to.
Visit our campus and you’ll see why so many of our team members have been with us for decades. They know furniture inside and out, and they know how to help you find what fits your space and your life.
We’re proud to be part of the Elk River community and grateful for the generations of families who’ve supported us along the way. Our family gives back through partnerships with the Furniture and Things Community Event Center, the Plants and Things Recreation Complex, Firefighters for Healing, and Day of the Dozers for Children's Hospital, all local spaces that bring people together.
We’re also committed to doing business responsibly. Our delivery teams use reusable moving blankets instead of plastic wrap or styrofoam, and almost 80% of our products are shipped domestically by truck, not cargo ship. Most of what we sell never even sees the ocean, and we’ve been doing it that way for decades.
If there’s one thing we love most, it’s when customers stop by.
Our campus in Elk River is home to both Furniture and Things and Plants and Things, two unique stores sharing the same passion for quality and service. Together, they create a shopping experience unlike any other in Minnesota. You can explore beautifully styled room displays, test the comfort of our sofas and recliners, or get hands-on with hundreds of solid-wood pieces crafted by American artisans.
We believe shopping for furniture should be something you look forward to. That’s why we’ve created a space where you can relax, explore, and imagine your home’s next chapter.
In our book, we’re better than the internet because here, you can see it, touch it, sit in it, and know it’s built to last.
